Maglarps new church

Maglarps new church is a church building in Hammarlövs parish, earlier Maglarps parish.

The church was built 1907-1908. This is one of the last gothic churches that were built in Skåne. The plans on a new church
is however older than so, already 1871 had Helgo Zettervall a drawn proposal to a new church, that however was shown far too expensive to build. Zettervalls student Henrik Sjöström
did a new proposal that was approved 1893. However, another architect, Harald Boklund, draw that church that actual was built. The reason was that it was so difficult to decide each the new church willed be built, both within the parish and on national level. Concurrent arose certain hesitation about one over the central while willed build a new church.

To ends was decided that the willed not be built on Maglarps old church's place in the village, instead being placed on the flat country a piece from there. 1907 could the work be initiated. July 17, 1909, the church was inaugurated.

To place the church entirely single-handed on the flat country showed itself however is not so successfully to do. The salted air from the sea does that the brick is falling to peaces. The last god service was held 1976, now they uses the old church. The new is closed and one has discusses banns and possible demolition of the church since then.

Since 1980 has the parish worked in order to few conditions to tear the church. In 1999 certain county board declared that the church might not be torn, but in May 2000 gave supreme administrative court examination condition to tear the church down. Then five years later, June 10, 2005 decided supreme administrative court that the church to be torn. Is effected resolved, which seems to be the case, becomes according to stubborn pressure press items Maglarps new church the the first church building that is torn in Sweden since 17^th centory. This information is however incorrect, then Kummelby church in Sollentuna, built 1957, was torn 1999 because of construction wrong and basis displacement.  

In 2006, on may the 20th , the church was dechristianized.
